Welcome to St John's Ben Rhydding

  • church buildingSt John’s is a Parish Church set in the parish of Ben Rhydding and in the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. We are a very family friendly church blessed with many children of all ages attending regularly. We are the only Church of England Church in Ben Rhydding.

At the APCM in March 2014, there were 143 members on the Electoral Roll, of whom two-thirds were women of various ages. There is also a significant number of families in their 30's and a thriving group of children and young people.
The Reverend Peter Willox is Vicar at St John's and he and all the church family offer everyone a warm welcome.

You are more than welcome to join us at one of our forthcoming worship services and we have a wide range of activities taking place in our Church Hall throughout the week. Do see our calendar for more details and do visit our photo gallery to see some photographs of St John's and its beautiful surroundings near Ilkley Moor.

The churchmanship is open evangelical with a welcoming atmosphere and a broad based spirituality. The church is diverse in nature, offering a wide range of activities that enable members to experience Jesus and grow spiritually in a way that is meaningful for them personally. The congregation is drawn largely from the local community of the parish itself, with approximately 75% of the congregation coming from within the parish.

St John's has begun Messy Church. This is an all age get together on a Saturday afternoon expecially for those who don't regularly come to Church. Click Messy Church for more details.

St John's took part in the Churches Together in Ilkley Cycling to Syria. There are two exercise bikes going round the churches in Ben Rhydding and Ilkley prior to the Tour de France coming to Ilkley. St John's folks managed to cycle just over 820 kms (about 513 miles) raising a substantial sum for the Save the Children campaign to support displaced children and their families in Syria. if you would like to support this work you can drop a donation into the St John's office or visit the Save the Children website Save the Children
