St John's is an Anglican Church part of the Diocese of Leeds. It is located in Ben Rhydding at the foot of the beautiful Ilkley Moor.We are a family friendly church centred in our local community. At the annual meeting in April 2017 we had 148 adults on the electoral roll with a good number of children. We offer everyone a very warm welcome to our services.
Welcome to St John's Ben Rhydding
Prayers for peace and healingMany of us have been deeply affected and moved by the recent events in Manchester as news of horror and sadness, but also great kindness and community spirit, have come to us through the various news feeds. It may even be that you or some people you know have been affected personally by these events. As we continue in our daily lives today, doing the ordinary daily tasks we are mindful that for many, lives will never be the same due a terrible act of violence. As a community of faith here in Ben Rhydding, we stand prayerfully alongside the people of Manchester, especially with the grieving, the injured, the angry and the broken and to that end we have set two opportunities for our community to come together.Psalm 34 "Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it."We have a very well used Church Hall which hosts a wide range of events for our community including dance, music, arts, childrens groups and U3A events. We also run Messy Church on a regular basis and the next event will be a Messy Church tent at the Ben Rhydding Community Fete on Saturday 17th June from 2pm to 4pm with lots of fun activities. We are currently in the process of renewing our church roof and in Spring 2016 completed phase one (north side) having raised over £50,000. The roof is over 100 years old and the oak pegs holding the slates are failing. Our target to complete the work is approximately £111,000 to enable us to complete phase two (south side) and phase three and we would welcome donations to help us in this project. We have made a good start on our second year target by raising £80,000 by the end of April 2017. So £31,000 needed to complete the work. If you would like to donate please click here My Donate. Our next event is an Open Gardens and Cream teas at the Houghtons on Saturday 10th June from 2pm to 4.30pm.
