Mothers Union
The Mothers Union is a fantastic, lively Christian organisation with approximately 3.6 million members in 76 countries. Ben Rhydding Mothers' Union branch has around 60 members and is extremely active with a variety of regular activities. The branch meets monthly usually on the first Monday in the afternoon, but also holds occasional evening meetings and social get-togethers.
The branch undertakes quite a lot of fundraising each year for various MU projects eg overseas literacy and development programmes, the Away From It All holiday scheme and the relief fund. Over recent years annual quiz nights and children's music afternoons have attempted to bring the church family closer together socially, whilst also raising funds. A children's fun afternoon has been held each August to provide a school holiday activity. Members provide the refreshments for Friday Morning Coffee Break (see children’s work). The branch seeks to enhance the life of the church and work closely alongside the vicar. An ecumenical breakfast is organised each year and the branch is invited to events organised by other local churches.
New members are always welcome to come along and details of forthcoming meetings can be found on the calendar.
